I have been guilty of not always keeping my word. When God began to show me and convict me of keeping my word. I never really looked at myself as not keeping my word. I try. Then I heard that still, small voice say “You keep half of your word” ouch!! That stung a little and at first, I even wanted to think that was just my flesh telling me that! (HAHAHa) Joke was on me!! I asked Him again as if He was wrong ” Lord, do I keep my word.” I heard ” I kept my Word ” again I did not feel condemned; I didn’t even feel guilty, but I felt like I brought disappointment. It was not the shame that I couldn’t keep the command of the Word to be a person of integrity. It was the realization and humbling that causes change that only Jesus can bring to us through the Holy Spirit. It is a word many Christian’s fear it’s the word conviction! I am not talking about the guilt that comes from man’s activities or that even let down man’s agenda’s. I am speaking about a heartbreak but it is not yours is Jesus’ for us. It is undeniable, and every Christian has felt it at one time or another. Really though I just wanted to share something that God has shown me. In no way am I trying to make you feel convicted for my sin? I am just bringing attention to something that I believe God has been convicting me about, and the Holy Spirit led me to several scriptures that were on this subject. I found three that just stood out to me. We must remember that we are called to walk uprightly and when we are not; the Holy Spirit is here to help us not hurt us. So let us be honest today and ask ourselves this. Are we keeping our word? Or are we committing time to activities that are not harmful but distracting us from the vow that we made to Christ? Are we justifying our lack of integrity to do what we want? The bigger questioning of ourselves against the Word of God is this. If I truly believe the Holy Spirit enables me to live righteously; not me, then will I allow the Holy Spirit to mold me into the image of my Savior? Integrity is consistent, and honestly, I believe flesh is the exact opposite (that means me too!). So today I am asking you not to make a vow, not to make a rash conversion I am asking you to simply self-reflect today and seek God’s face so that we can live out His word and we can live in the freedom of Christ. Remember the Holy Spirit has given you all you need to walk with Jesus and allow you to submit to the potters wheel so He can mold you into a beautiful vessel.
Proverbs 20:25 It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows.
To the faithful, you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.(NLT)
People with integrity walk safely,
but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall. (NLT)
